What we collect, why we need it, and what you can ask us to do with it.

Last updated: September 2026

This policy explains how The Travel Home handles your personal data when you use thetravelohome.in or book with us. The Travelo Home, trading as The Travel Home, is the data fiduciary for that data under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the "DPDP Act").

What we collect

  • Booking details — passenger names as they appear on your ID, dates of birth, gender, nationality, passport or ID numbers where the airline requires them, and your itinerary.
  • Contact details — your name, email address, mobile number and billing address.
  • Payment data — handled by our PCI-DSS compliant payment gateway. We receive a transaction reference and the last four digits of the card; we never see or store your full card number, CVV or UPI PIN.
  • Technical data — IP address, browser and device type, and the pages you visit, collected through cookies and server logs.
  • Correspondence — enquiries, support emails and, where calls are recorded for quality and dispute resolution, call recordings. We tell you at the start of a call if it is recorded.

Why we use it

  • To make and service your booking — this is the core purpose. We cannot issue a ticket without passing your details to the airline and the global distribution system.
  • To communicate with you about your booking: confirmations, schedule changes, refunds and travel-document reminders.
  • To meet legal and regulatory obligations, including tax records, and passenger data that airlines are required to give to immigration and border authorities.
  • To prevent fraud and to secure the website and our payment flow.
  • To send you offers — only where you have asked us to. You can withdraw that consent at any time.

Who we share it with

We share your data only with those who need it to deliver your booking: the airline and its distribution system, our payment gateway, our email and SMS providers, and our accountants and auditors. Where your itinerary is international, your details may be transferred outside India to the airline and to the border authorities of the countries you travel to or transit — this is a legal requirement of travel and cannot be opted out of while still flying.

We do not sell your personal data.

How long we keep it

Booking and transaction records are kept for eight years to meet tax and accounting requirements. Enquiries that do not become bookings are kept for 24 months. Marketing consent records are kept for as long as you remain subscribed and for two years after you unsubscribe, so that we can demonstrate the consent existed. Call recordings are kept for 12 months.

Your rights

Under the DPDP Act you may ask us to:

  • tell you what personal data of yours we hold and who we have shared it with;
  • correct or complete anything that is inaccurate or out of date;
  • erase data we no longer need for the purpose it was collected for, or for a legal obligation;
  • withdraw consent you previously gave — for marketing, this takes effect immediately;
  • nominate another person to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of your death or incapacity.

Write to info@thetravelohome.in to exercise any of these. We respond within 30 days. Note that we cannot erase data we are required to retain for tax purposes, or data an airline needs to hold for a ticket you are still travelling on.

Keeping it secure

Traffic to this website is encrypted in transit with TLS. Access to booking data is restricted to staff who need it to do their job, and payment card data never touches our servers. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach occurs that is likely to affect you, we will notify you and the Data Protection Board of India as the DPDP Act requires.

Cookies

We use cookies to keep your session and search results working, and to understand how the site is used. See our cookie policy for what each one does and how to control them.

Children

This website is not intended for children under 18. We do not knowingly process a child's personal data except as part of a booking made by a parent or guardian travelling with them.

Grievance officer

Questions or complaints about how we handle your data go to our grievance officer at info@thetravelohome.in, or by post at ATS Bouquet, Tower A, Unit No. 314, Sector 132, Noida, Uttar Pradesh – 201304, India. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
